                                                                                  Frequently Asked Questions

                                                          1. Do you take my insurance?

                                                          • We take ALL major prescription insurance, including all Medicare D plans in the state of Connecticut and some national plans; Express Scripts, Medco, CVS/Caremark, Connecticare, Pharmacare, Tricare, BlueCross, Blue Cross Federal, United HealthCare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, PCS, Workmen's compensation as well as many other smaller insurance plans who use other prescription processors.
                                                          • Sometimes if you work out of state or out of the Hartford area your group might not recognize our pharmacy as a participating pharmacy, but we will gladly sign up to participate. Sometimes it might take a few days to fill out the paperwork but we will happily do that in order to fill your prescriptions in the future.
                                                          • Even if we're not listed in your insurance booklet and even if your insurance tells you to go somewhere else, we STILL can probably take your insurance. Just ask and we'll try!

                                                          2. How do I get my prescriptions transferred to Granby Pharmacy?

                                                          • We will call the pharmacy where you have refills and get all the information. If you call us the day before you need your medication with the pharmacy phone number and the name of the medication we will get all the details.

                                                          3. How can I save money on my medications?

                                                          • The first way is to switch from a name brand medication to a generic medication if there is a generic available.
                                                          • If there is not a generic available of your prescribed medication, there might be a generic available of a different medication in the same class of drug. We could work with you and your doctor to come up with an alternative.
                                                          • Ask us about our pricing for 90 day generic medications. On certain generic medications you may be able to pay $10.00 for a 90 day supply. In some cases our cash price might be lower than what you pay through your insurance.
                                                          • Always ask us if you have a question on a price, we will always try to match a price you find elsewhere.
                                                          • In some cases you can split a higher strength medication in half to save money.
                                                          • For some name brand medications there are coupons to help save money on your copayments and free coupons. When we have coupons we automatically use them to help you save money.

                                                            4. Why does my prescription number change?

Prescription numbers are our filing system and help us to locate your prescription.
We issue a new prescription number when:
                                                          • Refills are needed,
                                                          • A year has gone by, or six months in the case of controlled drugs. Refills are only good for one year or six months and after that time we are required by law to contact the doctor for additional refills.
