For the month of April, Mary Kovacevic, a student from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy has been working with us at Granby Pharmacy. This is Mary's last rotation and she will be graduating and taking her exams soon. Her next stage in her education is a residency at Brigham and Women's in Boston, Massachusetts.
Mary has been very helpful with projects and our customers. She has been providing Medication Therapy Services to our customers, which is a new service in pharmacy. Medication Therapy involves looking at a patients entire prescription profile, explaining or clarifying why they are taking the medication, looking for drug interactions and duplicate therapy, as well as cost savings.
Mary also attending marketing events with us and helped us with presentation materials, at the East Granby Senior Center and Career Day at Seymour Elementary School in East Granby. She also attended an all day conference learning about business related topics specific to independent pharmacy, sponsored by Northeast Pharmacy Service Corporation. She also attended the Connecticut Pharmacists Association, monthly meeting with Jean Keating, who is a board meeting.
We love having students to work with, their knowledge is fresh about new medications and their excitement to work on projects is great. Mary also is an avid sports fan, so we had a lot of fun talking sports with her, especially during the NCAA tournament. We wish Mary all the best in her career.
