A pharmacist is an important medical worker who aids physicians, dentists and veterinarians by dispensing appropriate medications to patients. Some pharmacists may also specialize in pharmaceutical research, or in marketing and sales of particular medications for a company. Many in this field work in drug, department or retail store settings, and many more work in hospital settings. They are specialists in their knowledge of medications, and must always be furthering their education in this area since new medications are developed all the time. Personal Biography: I am currently a 6th year pharmacy student, enjoying my rotations and trying to learn as much as possible from my preceptors/sites. I got interested in pharmacy my last year in high school when I was able to conduct research with a radiopharmacist at UCONN Health Center. From that point on I started learning more about pharmacy and the aspect of patient care. This was really appealing to me because not only would I get to meet new people and make connections with them, but I would also be able to help with their medication issues. In my free time I really like to stay active. If I'm not hitting the books, I'm either at the gym working out, training for basketball and half marathons, relaxing with family and friends, or planning hiking/road trips with my friends. Career Objective: To obtain a pharmacy position that allows me to be myself and really allows me to connect with my patients. I believe connecting with patients will only strengthen our profession in the long run and will also help our profession and business expand |
